Marina Sailing's Complete Sailing Course™ is designed for the new sailor and includes basic and intermediate instruction aboard sailboats 25-30 feet. Students learn to sail quickly and safely with our certified American Sailing Association instruction in ASA 101 Basic Keelboat Sailing and ASA 103 Basic Coastal Cruising.

ASA 105: Coastal Navigation

This twelve-hour course, split among 4 mid-week evenings, is a classroom-based course. A prerequisite for the ASA 106, it covers advanced coastal piloting skills, compass deviation, NOAA chart reading and detailed use of chart symbols, tides and currents, set and drift, and other advanced navigational skills.

ASA 106: Advanced Coastal Cruising

This course offers three full days on the water for experienced sailors who want to act as skipper and crew on boats up to 50’in coastal or inland waters in most conditions. Topics include advanced seamanship, weather, engineering, safety, and use of advanced navigation techniques. Course is often paired with a distance race such as the Newport to Ensenada.

ASA 107: Celestial Navigation

This course enables students to safely navigate a sailboat on an offshore passage. This standard consists of three classroom sessions and one on-the-water session. The corse covers proper use of sextants, sightings on celestial bodies including the sun and moon, and use of tables to determine position at sea.

ASA 114: Cruising Catamaran Certification

In this one-day course, learn the ins-and-outs of sailing and handling multihulls. Instruction covers powering, docking, setting and trimming sails, and all of the particulars of catamaran sailing. Prerequisites are ASA 101, 103 and 104. 9am-4pm.

Navigation Class

This three-hour class is your introduction to coastal chart plotting, safety at sea, and general safety skills. This class is part of the Complete Sailing Course, but is also offerred for free to all members. Space is limited, please reserve your spot.

Night Navigation Class

Outboard Motor Course

For anyone renting an outboard for a multi-day charter to use on a dinghy, this course is essential. Outboard motors come in different shapes and sizes, and can be difficult if you do not know the proper techniques to use when operating. In this two-hour course, you will learn basic operation and troubleshooting of small outboard motors.
